Chapter 3

Chapter 3
January 3rd, 2013

I woke up to the sound of A knock on the door. I went to it and saw that it was Fred, carrying a stack of DVDs. I opened the door and he walked in. He went to Tabitha and handed her the DVDs.
"Thought you might like those." he said and sat down on the couch. "So, Zack, how do you like Sanction?"
"What do you mean?" I asked and cocked my head at him.
He laughed for a minute and then regained his composure. "The name of this safe zone."
"Oh," I said and blushed over a bit. "It's pretty nice I guess. This is a huge area, with a lot of room for everyone. We have a lot of stuff to survive. We should be good till we are let out."
Fred laughed a bit and he was about to talk, but was cut off by a knock on the door. I walked over and saw that it was Krystal. I opened the door and Krystal walked in, carrying about five movies with her. Tabi came in and hugged her. Fred shook his head and me and him left the girls alone.
We walked to the cafe and Fred was talking about what it was like to fly fighter jets. How awesome it was to soar in the sky and how awesome the ground training he got was. We got to the cafe and he led me to the back. There was a huge book case that had a huge collection of horror novels. Fred pulled one of them out and the book case slid to the side. It revealed a hidden hallway. I recognized it as the closed storm shelter.
Fred waved for me to follow and as soon as we got inside, the book case slid back into place. He led me to a room that had six other people sitting around a circle table. There was a podium at the opposite side of the room, with a old man standing behind it.
"Please be seated Mr. Cent." the man said and pointed at a empty chair next to Fred. I sat down, looking around nervously.
"What's going on here?" I said and tried to sit up, but Fred put a hand on my shoulder and forced me back down.
The man next to me took the bandages off of my face, revealing the gash I had on my face. Everyone in the gasped when they saw my eye. Fred handed me a mirror and I saw what made them gasp.
My good eye was the normal light blue, but the eye that had been bandaged was not red instead of my normal color.
"Mr. Cent, It appears you are one of the few immune people. You are the kind of person we need in this dark of times." The man at the front of the table said and then stepped into the light. I could see he was well into his eighties. "My name is Professor Artemis Asland."
He had Fred let me out of my seat and motioned for me to follow him. He led me to a curtain and nodded at the man standing next to it. The curtains were drawn back and I saw a little girl laying on the floor. The lights were turned on and she got herself up. She slowly walked to the window and stared at us. She then snarled at us and started to hit her head against the window, causing dark red blood to come from her head.
I looked and saw that she was covered in blood and pieces of flesh were missing from her body. She had a bite mark on her arm, that looked the same that Slippy had. The Professor nodded again and the man closed the curtains and turned out the lights.
"That is what is happening on the outside of the dome. It is not a another strain of the swine flu of H1N1 like they are telling everyone." he paused and pointed at a poster on the wall showing mysterious viruses. "It is called Homonian 1 Zombati 1, it was discovered in the start of the crusades by a child of a cultist leader, named Oro. He made the H1Z1 in 1943, with the help of Adolf and a team of scientists."
I shook my head in disbelief. "How much of an idiot do you think I am?" I said and walked towards the exit.
"Then do you know why they took your friend away when you described what was wrong with him?" He said and I paused.
"Okay, I will listen to you guys, but if I don't buy it I am out of here." I said and took my seat next to Fred.
"Okay, basically the reason that we are here is to hopefully help us all survive the apocalypse that is happening outside." He showed a map of the area. The dome was blue, but all the areas around it were red. "We are safe here, till they decide to use us as test subjects."
He brought up a picture of the counter. It was at 1,230. "Eight people have been used to make more of the things like I showed you a few minutes ago. They plan to, in a few weeks, unleash them to infect everyone here, and to fully observe what happens to people in a situation like this. This is why we must prepare the people here."
"How are we supposed to do that?" I asked and stood up. "There are guards everywhere. How are you guys gonna do that if they watch everything and can tell if we try to smuggle things to people?"
The Professor handed me a book. I opened it and found a .22 pistol with a silencer on it. "We can get these to each apartment in a matter of just a few hours. We can do this before they unleash the freaks of nature." he paused. "If we can't stop them that is."
"And how the hell do I fit into this?" I asked as I walked towards the door. "I am a sales associate at a local Wall to Ceiling and a college kid, not some freedom fighter or something."
"Mr. Cent, I know this is a lot to take in, but please go home for today." he motioned to the guard to open the door. "Just know if we don't do something, you might lose that sister of yours."
I froze at the thought of it. "Okay, to make sure my sister is safe, I will try to help you guys out."
"Very good Mr. Cent." The Professor said and smiled at me. He got up and handed me a book. "Take this with you, along with the book with a gun in it. It has our plans hidden in it. Our agent, Ms. Watts will help you with this stuff."
"Krystal is one of you guys?" I said and smiled as I walked out the door. "Figured, she was yelling about something a day or two ago about this."
I walked to my room and saw that Tabi and Krystal were watching the movie very closely. A man was walking out of a pool, and I saw both were blushed over. Both waved and Tabitha froze when she saw my bandages were off.
"I'll tell you tomorrow sister." I said and turned to Krystal. "Stay here tonight, you two need a girls night, sleep over, whatever the hell you want to call it. Okay? I need to speak with you in the morning."
She nodded and and they went back to watching the movie. I put both of the books out of reach of Tabi and laid on the bed. I stared at the ceiling for several hours, listening to the two of them having fun. Finally I let myself go to sleep.
